The students of Grade 6 Tulip visited their chemistry laboratory to discover about the characteristics of a chemical reaction.
It was an outcome-based learning experience to discover the characteristic: Evolution of Gas. Hydrogen - Zinc granules react with dilute hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen gas. The gas is colourless and odourless. It is identified by taking a burning splinter near it. It burns with a pop sound.
Carbon dioxide- When Acetic acid is added to baking soda, carbon dioxide gas is formed. This gas is also colourless and odourless. It is tested by passing into lime water through a delivery tube when limewater turns milky. When passed in excess the milkiness disappears.
